Weekly Update December 9th-13th

Happy Monday

Only 9 more days!!!  We know this is a busy week with Evaluate and F & P Benchmark Assessments this week, so let us know if you need anything.  Hopefully, everyone is seeing growth with their students as we are completing our mid-year checks.  Just a reminder to goal set with your students before they take the Evaluate assessment.  Goal setting with students improves their motivation and growth mindset.

Have a great week!

Weekly Update December 2nd-6th

Happy Monday

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Break!  Hopefully everyone had time to rest and regroup for December.  We only have 14 days with our students, and we want to make sure we are using that time wisely.  Please be mindful this week that our students have been out of their regular school routine for over a week now and may need some time and help adjusting.  This doesn’t mean we have to lower our expectations; it just means that we may need to give them a little more grace and patience as they are readjusting.

This week in TGM we will be working on aligning our pacing guides and the Evaluate assessments.  We have a tool that we will be passing out help you do this.  Please bring any work that you have already completed on this.

We hope everyone has a great week.  Please let us know if you need anything.

Weekly Update November 18th-22nd

Happy Almost Break!

Just 5 more days!!!  A big shout out to Sean and Megan for having their class compete in Battle of the Brains.  I know it took a lot of hard work on everyone’s part and we really appreciate you going the extra mile to make learning engaging and fun for the students.  We know this is the week before break but remember we must be maximizing all of the time we have with our students.  So, what can we be doing this week to make learning FUN and EXCITING?

At the end of each day, if you could, take a couple of minutes with your co-teacher and celebrate the things that went well during the day.  This can help you leave work realizing there were some silver linings, if it’s been a hard day.  I know this time of year is busy and crazy at school and at home so take 5 minutes and just reflect on something good and build on that the next day.  If it’s been a really hard day, we have candy in the C & I room that can help pick you up J.  Have a great week!!!

Weekly Update November 11th-15th

Happy Monday!!!

We only have 2 more weeks until Thanksgiving Break :)!  With that being said let’s make sure that we are maximizing all of our learning time together.  We know this time of year can be a little more challenging for all of us, but as teachers we set the tone of the day and ultimately what our class accomplishes while they are with us.  So, let’s keep our expectations high and make sure that we are providing engaging lessons.  This will help with learning and behavior.  Just a reminder, if we are watching a video, outside of a quick brain break, please make sure that we are connecting it to an academic standard (and help students make that connection too). Our students actually learn best when we are up, moving around and engaging with them.

We just completed our third round of Evaluate testing, for grades 2nd-4th, and we will compare this data to the data we received from our September assessments.  We will be looking at this data during TGMs on Monday (rescheduled from Tuesday).  We are so excited about the growth that we are seeing in math!!!  During our meeting we will discuss how we can see the same type of growth in ELA.

We hope everyone has a great week!

Weekly Update November 4th-8th

Happy November!!!

We want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped with planning and participating in Trunk or Treat!!! Everyone had an AMAZING time, our kids are truly blessed to have such dedicated and fun teachers. Also, we hope everyone enjoyed their extra hour of sleep this weekend (or whatever you chose to do with it 😉 ).  It seems like the year is going by so quickly and with that in mind, now is a good time to really look at your pacing guide and see where you are at and make the needed adjustments.  If you are behind and need help with making up that time, we are more than happy to help you look at your plans and see how to do that.

This week we will be doing our November Evaluate testing (2nd-4th).  This data we will be able to compare with our September data because the assessment will be covering all of the same standards.  Remember we are not wanting to teach to the test and if we just keep with following our pacing guides, we should cover everything that is being tested by the end of the year.  Evaluate is just another great tool that we are using to see if our kids are actually retaining what we are teaching them and if what we are teaching them is actually rigorous enough to cover the standard.

Lastly, please submit some ideas and suggestions for topics that you would like additional information on that could be included in the weekly update. We really want the articles and support sites to be helpful to you, so if there is something that you would like some additional information on just send an email and we will work on gathering that for you.

Happy Monday!!

We hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend!  It looked like we had a lot of families show up for conferences, so thank you for putting in the extra time to accommodate them.  We will be having our regular TGM this week so plan on meeting in the C & I room on Tuesday.  Also, if you haven’t already done so, please come by and update your math and reading data in C & I room this week.  Remember this is just the beginning of the year so we will be looking to see how students grow throughout the year, we aren’t expecting everyone to be AA 1st quarter.   Please let us know the best way we can support you!

Weekly Update October 21st-25th

Good Morning!

We hope everyone was able to get some rest this weekend and is ready for this week.  This is a shorter week so just make sure we are continuing to hold all of our students to high expectations, at all times.  We spent time this past Wednesday looking at our Evaluate data, please continue to desegregate that  information and use it to help drive your instruction.  We never want to teach to the test, but we do want to recognize the strong foundations that we have and build on them.  If you need any help with this, please do not hesitate to ask.

Good Morning!!!

As we begin the week, we just wanted to say how impressed we were with everyone last Thursday when all of our parents visited your classrooms.  It is always great when parents get to see and experience what our kids do every day.  We continue to see great things going on in the classroom.  We have been looking over the Evaluate data and are seeing where we have some really strong foundations to build on.  Keep up the excellent work!!!  If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Happy Fall Y’all

Well, fall has definitely arrived!!!  We hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend.  We both will be out of the building this afternoon visiting other charter schools and looking at their co-teaching models.  We are hoping to bring back lots of helpful strategies for you to utilize in your classrooms.  If there is anything specific that you would like for us to look for or ask about, please drop by our room or send us a quick email.  Thanks for all that you do each and every day to help all of our students to be successful.

Happy Monday!

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  It’s starting to feel a little more fall(ish).  This week we will not be having TGM meetings due to Gordon Park’s son, David Parks, visiting us on Tuesday.  On Wednesday during our ERG day we will spend a little bit of time discussing the Dyslexia Screener.   This week as we are visiting classrooms, we will be listening for student talk vs teacher talk during a lesson.  We love getting to hear how kids are actually processing the concepts and seeing them as applicable to their lives.  As always, please let us know if there is anything we can be doing to better support you.  Have a great week!!!
